The Bramblewood project plays host to several communities that are each shaped for (and by) children and young people. Someone coming to Bramblewood for the first time will join one of these communities, and be able to attend each of their sessions and benefit from all the advantages of being part of a consistent, warm, friendly community. All of our young people’s communities run in line with the Worcestershire School term dates, allowing humans and woodland alike to have a restorative break from each other from time to time.

Alternative Provision, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays

We have three separate communities of young people on weekdays that are held such that they can be safe, nurturing and engaging places for young people who are and/or have struggled with the system of formalised schooling.

These communities hold the same potential for different activities and friendships, but also have the benefit of a much higher level of attuned and experienced adult support throughout. Furthermore, we have two communities of around 10-15 young people (Tuesdays & Fridays) and one on a Wednesday that deliberately remains smaller (5 young people max).

A community designed for Home Educators on Fridays

Whilst our Friday group isn’t accessed exclusively by children who are homed educated, we always seek to ensure that this Bramblewood community can be accessed by home educators too.

Like all of our communities, these sessions operate through a self-directed, consent-based framework and are primarily (though not always) set up for young people to attend without parents/carers. The group has around fifteen children in it, with a current age range of 5-15 years old (or 51 if you include everyone!) and so this group has all the benefits of great social affordability & intergenerational learning.

Community Forest School on Saturdays (fortnightly)

A larger community of young people (15-20 children) with around 4 supporting adults.
Great for folk who are looking for playful woodland adventures, tool-use,
mud kitchen creations, cooking on the fire, making new friends and
are used to being in larger groups of people.

We have two different Saturday communities that meet on alternating Saturdays. Both run in exactly the same way,
just on different weekends and comprise children aged from 4 up to 14 years of age.
